"Stick a Pin in It" Greeting Card

$5.00

Some days deserve to be remembered! This cheerful Christian greeting card features an original watercolor by Twila Farmer of a classic tomato pincushion, paired with a playful reminder to “Stick a Pin in It!”

Cover:
Stick a Pin in It!

Inside:
Some days are worth remembering. Today is one of them!

“This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
—Psalm 118:24

Back:
The first pincushions appeared in the Middle Ages when costly pins and needles needed a safe place to be stored. According to a bit of sewing folklore, placing a tomato on the mantel of a new home was thought to bring prosperity. So what to do when tomatoes were out of season? Fill a fabric tomato with sawdust and stick pins in it, of course! By the Victorian era, pincushions had become decorative collectibles. The familiar tomato eventually gained its little companion, a strawberry on a string filled with emery powder for cleaning and sharpening needles. And we’ve been sticking pins into stuffed tomatoes ever since!
